Launch of the CRE for the Study of Naevi - significant media coverage

Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 19:00

The Centre of Research Excellence for the Study of Naevi had its official launch on Tuesday 26th April 2016.

This collaborative CRE is funded by the Australian Government National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), and involves several UQ Dermatology Research Centre researchers (Prof H. Peter Soyer, A/Prof Rick Sturm, A/Prof Tarl Prow, A/Prof Helmut Schaider).

The Launch introduced the innovative research program, which revolves around understanding naevi (or moles) better to advance our understanding of melanoma and why some moles turn deadly while others never become a problem.

The event included a Consumer Forum, with representatives from Melanoma Patients Australia and the Cancer Council Queensland.  Consumers will play an important role in the CRE to ensure the relevance of the research to the community and its translation into beneficial outcomes for people with melanoma.

The event received significant media coverage in Brisbane:

  • Channel 7 News
  • Channel 9 News
  • Channel 10 News
  • Courier Mail
