The 2nd Annual Alan Cooper Epiderm Lecture was held on Friday 19 August at the Translational Research Institute. Professor Mark Pittelkow, Mayo Clinic, Arizona, gave the keynote address on “Paraneoplastic Syndromes”, and was proudly hosted by The University of Queensland’s School of Medicine and the Dermatology Research Centre.
This was the second year that Professor H. Peter Soyer has coordinated the event, which proved once again to be a success. The University of Queensland’s Pro Vice Chancellor (Research and International), Professor Anton Middelberg, Head of the School of Medicine, Professor Darryl Crawford, many of the Epiderm Board, including Professor Alan Cooper, important supporters and donors to the Dermatology Research Centre, and CEOs and leaders of Health Services and collaborating research institutions, were among the 120 attendees.
In addition to the lecture, Professor Soyer and Deputy Director of QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Professor David Whiteman, presented awards for the Australian Skin and Skin Cancer Research Centre Enabling Grant Scheme.
The Alan Cooper Epiderm lecture was established in recognition of Epiderm’s generous support of dermatology and skin cancer research programs at The University of Queensland.
This support has played a key role in the skin and skin cancer research aimed at improving patient outcomes, conducted by the Dermatology Research Centre.
Full program and presentation slides are available on the event page.
The details of the 2017 Alan Cooper Epiderm Lecture will be announced shortly.
