Congratulations to Sam Hames who won the Canon Extreme Imaging Prize at the 2015 DICTA (Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications) conference.
Sam won this award for his project entitled "Anatomical Skin Segmentation in Reflectance Confocal Microscopy with Weak Labels" which has the potential to improve the diagnosis of skin disease and provides a powerful tool for non-invasive skin imaging.
Sam is supervised by A/Prof Tarl Prow (UQ DRC), Prof Andrew Bradley (UQ ITEE) and Prof Peter Soyer (UQ DRC).
This is an annual competition run by Canon Information Systems Research Australia (CiSRA) aimed to encourage Australian students to use image technology and recognises innovation and advances in the field.
Further information about the competition and Sam's award can be found on the Canon website.
